Nanowrimo progress report

I am really struggling with this Nanowrimo because, like everything, I over analyze and have to plan so much that I am paralyzed and can't do anything. The whole point of Nanowrimo is to write by the seat of your pants. This I am not doing. I am thinking about knocking off the rest of the night because I am introducing another character and it is too much to worry about right now. I want him to be the perfect blend of psycho and nice guy. Is that too much to ask?

Nanowrimo update

Nanowrimo started Monday and I have to say that I haven't gotten off on the best foot. My day job interfered and then I had class Monday night. There really aren't enough hours in a day. I was unmotivated last night and tonight, I am going to try and catch up, but I think I will have to revise my daily word counts. In fact I know I will have to because I am going out of town this weekend and am not taking my computer.

Ah, the thrills and chills of Nanowrimo. I am extremely rusty as I have not written anything in a long, long time. I am pushing through though and will do my best.

Nanowrimo 2010

Another year has passed and Nanowrimo is, literally, right around the corner. I am participating this year and will be sharing word count updates throughout the month. Sign up at http://www.nanowrimo.org/ and join us!

Facebook presence

In my day job, I work with a lot of social media. I decided to take what I know and apply it to my writing. To that end, I have created a Wordfulgoogie group on Facebook and will include the links to my blogspot blog and my new website, www.carolineifritz.com/. Increased visibility brings new scrutiny and I will make sure I keep everything updated on a regular, if not semi-regular basis.

Fall check in!

I always vow that I will keep up my blog, but life gets in the way. 'Tis no matter because I haven't done any writing and I stopped writing for the content entry sites in June because it was too much work for an uncertain outcome. I am still working on my fear of submitting my work to a real live publisher. I am reading The Courage to Write by Ralph Keyes. Hopefully it will help. NANOWRIMO is coming in November and I am doing it again this year. My other news is that I am going to take a screenwriting class at U.T. next semester. I always wanted to take it when I was still in college, but the class was always held in the afternoon and I had to work. The class is now held at night, so I will be able to take it. So yay! The best part is that I have no choice but to write and do my homework. Whatever it takes. Whatever it takes. Plus, I will get feedback on my writing. I see an adviser on the 18th to get registered.

Long time, no hear

Even though I haven't updated my blog lately, I have been busy writing, mainly informative articles for both GardenGuides.com and eHow.com. I have also been setting up accounts so I can write for other websites as well. I will include URLs when these are up and running. For many of the sites, I can write my own articles on any topic.

So the question is, Is there something you would like to read about? My mom had a good idea about wanting to read an article on kitchen hints. Maybe, The Top 10 Kitchen Hints. How about you? Anything you are interested in reading about but not interested in wading through the pages of websites to get there? Let me know.

Along with this non-traditional writing, I have been working on the edits of my book and my day job. You can say that I am a writing fool!

Revising in earnest

I have good news to report. I have been working on revising my book every day. My general plan when I write is to go as fast as possible and fill in the blanks later and this is a slow process. But, it must be done.

I have also been writing for the freelance site. I seem to have slowed down in my output, so I have to work on that.

I bought the domain name: www.carolineifritz.com and will be setting up a commercial writing website. I am looking into different website hosts so watch this space!

Keep on keepin' on

Well, 2010 is upon us and it is time to create some goals to ignore. I would like to send my book out, decide what I am going to do about content writing, create a writing website, get over my fear of rejection and join the local writer's group.

I was looking at my book this past week and I have to say that I just don't get the point of it. What is the point? To tell a story of course. But so what? What about the story? Is it even worth telling? Or is this another way of devaluing my work. Apparently I thought enough about it before I wrote it to start writing it and sticking with it over all of these years. So I will keep on, keepin' on. I guess that is the theme of 2010.
